DAR Engineering had a very highly successful presence at the Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Middle East 2011 which was held from 17 December in Jeddah. IEEE PES Western Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) and Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) organized the First IEEE-PES Conference in Middle East on Innovative Smart Grid Technologies.

DAR Engineering had a very strong presence in this year’s GCC Power event to be held in Kuwait. The exhibit was visited by several Government and utility company representatives. The 7th GCC CIGRE International Conference, GCC Power 2011 Conference & Exhibition, was held in Kuwait from 21 to 23 November 2011.

DAR Engineering sponsored the Health Facilities Design & Development event at Jeddah, 20th November. The forum was visited by leading figures in the KSA's Healthcare sector.

A presentation on 'Advanced Architecture for Cancer Treatment' was made to the conference delegates.


Grid interconnection of Renewable Energy and maximize its utilization
The depleting deposits of fossil fuels and the harmful effect of carbon dioxide output on the climate is forcing nations, especially industrialized countries to reduce power generation from fossil fuels. All electricity boards across the globe are harnessing other methods of producing power energy to meet ever increasing demand and at the same time reduce dependency/ conserve available fossil sources.
Highlighting these issues, DAR will be presenting a paper at the ISGT2011, 17-20 December at Jeddah

DAR Engineering presents paper at the SASG Forum 2011
March 2011: DAR Engineering was one among the other well known international speakers to provide industry expertise at the highly technical presentation in the Substation Automation & Smart Grid Forum 2011 at Jeddah from 4th June. The presentation titled "Primary Equipment in Substations" focused on “CONTROLLING TRANSIENT RECOVERY VOLTAGE IN EHV CIRCUIT BREAKER BY APPLYING POINT-ON-WAVE CONTROL, POWER TRANSFORMER BUSHING FAILURES DUE TO VERY FAST TRANSIENT. Moreover the presentation also included recommendations for On-Line Condition Monitoring, Optical Current Transformer Advantages and Power System Stability Improvements Using Facts (Flexible AC Transmission System).

Paper published on Single Phase Auto-reclosing and Secondary Arc Considerations
March 2011: DAR Engineering alongwith its partner Manitoba HVDC Research Centre published a paper on Single Phase Auto-reclosing and Secondary Arc Considerations.

DAR to provide “Engineering and Design Services” for SEC - Central Region
Feb 2011: DAR is the lowest bidder for providing “Engineering and Design Services” for Central Division of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC-COA)

The contract duration shall be 3 years, which includes “Review and response to all pre-bid and post-bid clarifications, technical offers, Turnkey/Construction Contractor's submittal, materials, equipment and Engineering Design calculations / Drawings, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/
Communication/Protection.

Phase II for MoH to commence after successfully completing Phase I
Jan’2011: Phase I (Stage I & II) of the contract for preparing specifications and consulting studies of infrastructure for Ministry of Health (MoH) project is now complete which advises the ministry on the options for the refurbishment of six hospitals. Stage III shall commence shortly during which sketch design works shall be carried out for the refurbishment of six hospitals.

DAR to design and supervise the Cochlear Implant Center Project at KFMC
Dec’2010: DAR ENGINEERING has signed a contract with Ministry of Health (MoH) to provide design services for the Cochlear Implant Center Project and the extension of Medical Rehabilitation Hospital in King Fahad Medical City (KFMC).

Dar to provide Construction Management Services for National Control
Center project
Nov’2010: DAR ENGINEERING has signed a new contract with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to provide Construction Management Services for National Control Center (NCC) Project in Riyadh. The Project consists of the installation of various systems necessary for the establishment of an Electricity National Control Centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The contract duration is three years and is particularly focused on managing implementation of Marketing Management System and SCADA/Energy Management System (EMS) of National Control Center (NCC) Project.

Sep’2010: DAR has signed a new contract with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC-EOA) to provide “Construction Management Services” for Saudi Aramco’s NAOF 380KV S/S, OHTL AND SVC PROJECTS.

The contract duration shall be 3 years, which includes construction of various Substations, Transmission Lines, Static Var Compensation and Communication Systems.

DAR has signed a new contract with Ministry of Health (MoH)
Aug’2010: DAR has signed a new contract with Ministry of Health (MoH) to provide “Consultancy Services” for studies, specifications, design and plans for refurbishment of hospitals infrastructure and housing facilities in Central and Eastern provinces.

The contract duration shall be 9 months, which includes Architectural, Electrical and Mechanical works along with Medical Gases System.

Apr’2010: DAR Engineering participated at the SABIC Technical Meeting (STM-9) event at Jubail on the April 12th – April 14th 2010. DAR displayed its core services to a large gathering of more than 11000 visitors from different engineering disciplines.

DAR strengthens its Consultancy Services portfolio by signing several new projects!
Apr’2010: DAR has further cemented its leadership in the Consultancy Services area by signing several prestigious projects of multi million riyal value:

  1. One among the projects include Consultancy Services for Witnessing of Pre Commissioning Tests and Commissioning for Transmission Projects in DTA for the SEC-WOA for a duration of 3 years. DAR has already mobilized close to 35 engineers at the moment.

  2. DAR also was awarded Consultancy Services for Defining Out-of-Step Relay Settings on 380kV Connections in WOA, COA, and SOA Transmission Systems for the SEC.
    The project scope includes OOS relay settings for new 380kV intertie connections in the SEC grid between the WOA, COA, and SOA employing optimal separation strategies
